Application Guidelines & Open Call

The Arts Club Dubai is pleased to welcome applications for its inaugural Artist Residency Programme. This opportunity is designed for two artists who wish to develop a new body of work while engaging with the club’s vibrant community.

Eligibility

• The residency is open to emerging UAE-based artists
working with any medium on canvas.

• Applicants must be over 18 years old.

• Must be available for the for the majority of the residency period
(6 months, starting in October 2025).

Theme: Singular Focus

Singular Focus champions art that offers an individual, concentrated experience, countering today’s overstimulation and hyper-immersion. The theme values works that exist as self-contained moments of engagement, marked by clarity, depth, and meaning through simplicity and directness.

How the Club will support you

• Financial support of AED 20,000 in three instalments.

• End-of-residency exhibition at The Arts Club Dubai.

• An opportunity for one selected artwork to be included in The Arts Club Dubai’s permanent collection and be awarded USD 10,000.

• An auction will be held at The Arts Club Dubai, featuring all works created during the residency, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the artist, free from any commission or administrative deductions.

• Mentorship and professional support from the Residency’s committee members, comprising distinguished figures from across the art world, from acclaimed advisors and seasoned collectors to curators and directors of national pavilions at major international biennales.

• Engagement with The Arts Club Dubai community.

Your Role
in the Programme

• A well-defined artistic proposal that reflects the residency’s theme and takes into account the logistical parameters of the exhibition space (more details below).

• Regular presence during the residency period.

• Participation in member-focused events, studio visits, talks, or workshops.

• A completed body of work by the end of the residency that consists of six new artworks for the end-of-residency exhibition hosted at The Arts Club Dubai.

Required Material

All documents must be submitted in PDF format:
• CV (maximum 2 pages)
• Portfolio (5 to 10 pieces with captions)
• Residency Proposal: project description; objectives; connection to residency theme. (maximum 750 words)
• Artist Statement (maximum 300 words)

Logistical requirements
• Canvas Maximum Size: Width 80 cm × height 120 cm (orientation optional).
• Canvas Depth (Stretcher Bars): 3.5–4 cm (artists to confirm if alternative depth is required).
• Canvas Material: 100% cotton or linen or mixed.
• Canvas Total Weight Estimate: Stretched canvas not to exceed 10kg, if framed (optional), maximum additional 5 kg.
• Mounting / Hanging: Slimline art hanging system with nylon wire suspension with existing rail (no wall drilling permitted).
• Environmental Conditions: Indoor display only; average temperature, 18–24°c; average humidity, 40–60% RH; adjustable artificial lighting, no direct exposure to lighting; UV protection recommended.
• Wall Display Size: 5.9 m (W) × 3.3 m (H).
• Wall Display Finish: The wall designated for hanging is covered with patterned wallpaper (example below).
